HonGuo 红锅

This newly opened NEX has brought much vibe to every resident especially to the residents staying in the North and Northeast. NEX is almost as big as Vivocity, if not bigger. It features many eateries. However I felt that the building design wasn’t really fully made use of. 3G reception is also very bad especially at the basements.

CP, JH and I chose to eat here at HonGuo – Yunnan cuisine. Their popular dish is their 过桥米线, literally meaning “cross bridge vermicelli”.

“The soup base of “Cross Bridge Vermicelli” is extremely flavourful and tasty. It is double boiled for many hours with selected duck, chicken and pork portions. The added vermicelli, veggies, meat slices and egg into the soup makes it an excellent choice for one looking for nostalgic comfort food.”

Hence, the 3 of us ordered the same thing with the most side dishes. It came with all the ingredients in saucers and a hot bowl of soup. We were told to add in the raw meat first and the vermicelli last. It was quite fun adding, but we ended up putting everything into the soup all at once. And I thought it was quite a hassle. The eggs were especially small and I suspect they were quails’ eggs.


We felt that the soup was bland and tasted so-so only. Luckily we had our 辣子鸡丁 to perk our taste buds. I would have preferred it to be more spicy. The coating of 咸蛋香酥金瓜 was a bit squishy.  Taste was also so-so.
