"Gourmandism is an act of judgement, by which we prefer things which have a pleasant taste to those which lack this quality." – Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok Kway Teow Mee / 老福林酿豆腐

Finally had a chance to go have lunch with my colleague who has been sitting beside me for almost 2 years! And I’ve been hearing a lot of this niang dou fu for very long, but have yet to taste it. So here I am today!!

The noodles that I chose was their thick bee hoon, which they are famous for. Then a braised sauce with minced pork is poured onto it. There are a variety of niang dou fu items that you can choose from ranging at 50 – 60 cents per piece. Then you take a seat while they serve you. The waiting time isn’t too long.

The niang dou fu pieces are deep-fried quickly to obtain a layer of crisp. So even if you chose a non-fried piece, it will eventually become fried crisp-ily. All the pieces are then served on a big plate, with the same braised sauce with minced pork poured over it. I love their bittergourd and brinjal!! Yum yum!! Actually every piece is yummy!

Heh… thanks for my colleague! It was his treat that day!

Beside this stall, is the mee pok stall. They also sell good fishball noodles and pak chor mee. However, I shan’t comment too much. Otherwise I’ll be over-rating them. The teh-bing and kopi-bing they sell is super nice too!!
